Last Saturday’s Free Family Movie night, co-sponsored by the Milford Education Foundation, Milford Recreation, Milford Prevention Council, New Standard Institute, and First Choice College Placement, was a huge success!
About 150 people attended the event at the Fowler Field Rotary Pavilion—on what was arguably one of the nicest evenings of the summer—bringing their chairs and blankets to enjoy the animated feature, How to Train Your Dragon. The evening was led by a live video interview with Los Angeles-based animator, Bill Tessier, who worked on the film. Bill gave an overview of how production works, his role in the film and how young people can prepare for a career in animation. Kids and parents alike enjoyed the film, and even those with a bit less of an attention span had fun running around!
Thank you to everyone who came and, to those who missed it, be sure to join us next time!

The Milford Education Foundation is seeking volunteers to help with all facets of planning a Minds In Motion event in Milford this spring. It feels like a long way away but we have A LOT to do!
Minds In Motion is offered by The Connecticut Association for the Gifted and is a hands-on, interactive learning program for kids of all abilities from K-8. This half-day event offers kids a series of workshops in areas of interest to them. Parents and educators benefit too, by attending their own free thought-provoking keynote address and special interest workshops.
We are looking for help in the following areas: workshop coordinators, vendor and exhibitor coordinators, registration, publicity, facility management, a/v and special equipment, hospitality and more.
Our first committee meeting will be held on September 11th from 6:30-8:30 at The Parson Complex, Room A. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Minds In Motion Volunteer” in the subject line for further information and to be added to our email list.
Bring a chair, some snacks and enjoy a fun movie under the stars with your family!
Join Milford Education Foundation, Milford Prevention Council and Milford Recreation Department for a FREE movie night featuring How To Train Your Dragon! The evening starts with a live interview with Bill Tessler, one of the animators of How To Train Your Dragon.
