Eleven projects selected in organization’s fourth round of funding

MILFORD, CONNECTICUT (February 16, 2016) –The Milford Education Foundation  (MEF) awarded 11 teachers across the Milford Public School District $6,700 for  creative projects that will be implemented over the course of the 2015‐16 academic  year. MEF’s Teacher Mini‐Grant Program, now in its third year, is dedicated to  supporting teacher projects that further enrich and enhance existing curricula.

Since it was formed in 2013, the Foundation has distributed over $24,000 in teacher  mini‐grants covering 39 innovative projects and initiatives for students of all ages.  “Milford’s teachers are embracing innovation in new and exciting ways,” said Augie  Harrigan, Foundation president. “We’re helping initiatives that enhance traditional  curriculum with new media, fresh ideas that promote career and life readiness, and  projects where students have an opportunity to positively influence their peers.”

MEF will invite teachers to apply for its next round of grants this spring. The  organization supports its Teacher Mini‐Grant Program through a combination of  fundraising initiatives and sustaining donors. Last fall, the Foundation raised just  over $6,000 with An Evening Under the Stars, a family‐friendly dinner and music  event that showcased the Foran High School planetarium and jazz program. This  spring, MEF will bring back its popular Chair‐ity Auction, promoting artistic  collaboration through student crafted and decorated Adirondack chairs.
